The CNA/Med Tech plans and
implements a program of therapeutic and social activities for clients of
the Respite and Enrichment Center. This position also plans and participates in activities which may include groups
and individuals. They must meet the needs and interests of each
individual client in areas of social, recreation, education and health
promotion. The program should utilize Respite and Enrichment Center
staff, as well as community partners, volunteers, and other entities
within the facility to promote inter-generational participation and
interaction.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Current certifications in CPR and First Aid or completed within the first 6 months.
• 40 hours of direct care training or willingness to complete within the first 90 days of employment.
• One-year work experience within the last five years in an activities program in an adult care setting.
• Three-year work experience within the last 5 years in the areas of Geriatrics and/or Developmental/Intellectual Disability
• Experience with and/or knowledge of older adults and their special needs, as well as individuals with a developmental/intellectual disability.
• Ability to plan and implement the program, delegate appropriately.
• Physical capacity necessary to assist and support clients (able to lift 30#), good physical coordination to demonstrate or participate in recreational activities.
• Knowledge of inter-generational programming.
• Computer skills required.
• Record of program accountability, reliable, and leadership, demonstrate sound judgment, flexibility, and strong written and oral communication skills.
• Patience, tact, and persuasion when working with people who have a variety of special needs, able to demonstrate ingenuity, a sense of humor, and imagination to adapt activities to individual needs.
• Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate appropriate skills in delegation, planning of, preparation for, and carrying out of activities;
• Two relevant and satisfactory references.
