JABA's FISH (Friends in Schools Helping) program provides tutoring and mentorship to local youth in school, helping students succeed in their studies, while bridging generational gaps.

FISH is seeking a Part-Time Program Assistant. This individual will specialize in building relationships and partnerships with schools in the Greater Charlottesville Area, recruiting volunteers, and assisting in the overall implementation of the FISH outreach plan.

Schedule: TBD - 10 hours per week - Flexibility needed

Wage: $13.00/hourly

Location: Based in Charlottesville, with travel throughout Albemarle & surrounding counties

Responsibilities:

  • Builds relationships and hosts presentations at schools and in the community (primary)
  • Assists in development of outreach plan to partner schools
  • Assists in the development of recruitment plan, messages & materials
  • Maintains volunteer tracking spreadsheet & coordinates volunteers

Requirements:

  • BA in education, social work, psychology, marketing, is preferred or 1 to 3 years of relevant experience
  • Passion for intergenerational advocacy and youth
  • Excellent verbal & written communication abilities
  • Drivers license, transportation, & clean driving record
  • Able to occasionally pick up, lift, carry and place items weighing up to 20 lbs


This is a grant funded position. This position will last until December 31, 2019, with a chance for renewal at that time.
