Job Description Summary/Objective

The Community Engagement and Marketing Specialist will oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Outreach program on behalf of the Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA). This is a community connector role helping to build, grow, and maintain JABA’s outreach efforts to the community JABA serves. This position will work collaboratively with JABA staff in developing a robust outreach program that includes building relationships with community partners and serving the needs of seniors in the region regarding JABA’s programs.

Essential Functions

  1. Oversee all aspects of JABA’s Outreach Program including developing positive community partner relationships with non-profits, referral sources (such as hospitals, DSS and other government agencies), faith-based communities, area agencies, and the people JABA serves.
  2. Execute an outreach strategy focusing on education, partnerships, relationship building, and internal and external events.
  3. Partnership Development - build positive relations within the organization to understand other programs and staff roles, and with external community partners; collaborate with JABA departments; participate in community meetings; network with community groups and organizations for purposes of program development and awareness raising; focusing on rural and sparser-populated areas of our region; manage outreach to the community and approved marketing plan.
  1. Work with the Philanthropy and Communications team building strong team effort in meeting the department goals
  2. Work with the Director of Philanthropy and Communications to develop a strategic plan for Outreach efforts to build awareness of JABA’s programs and enhance participation in specific services.
  3. Develop and implement messaging to increase partner and client engagement across various platforms, including social media, email marketing, and JABA website; identify initiatives for a diverse multicultural and multigenerational population.
  4. Schedule and staff priority presentations, events, or other activities to educate a select audience about JABA programs, as they align with the strategic plan.
  5. Data Management and Reporting – establish and maintain data collection systems to determine what is the most effective outreach; this data will also be used to report on the impact of programs on funders and stakeholders and evaluate the effectiveness of programs; develop and track outcome measures; utilize information to continuously improve results.
  6. Support JABA’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiative by serving as an advocate for individuals of all races, ethnicities, genders, ages, sexual orientations, religious backgrounds, abilities, and levels of need.
  7. Ability to work in a collaborative environment supporting JABA’s outreach efforts for programming and services.

Work Environment

Employee works primarily in the communities served by JABA (Albemarle, Charlottesville, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson). The employee will be required to provide transportation to work in varied business environments based on program needs.
